Terms of service
Last updated 7 September 2026. Tiepost is in development and not yet open to the public; these terms apply to testing.
What Tiepost is
Tiepost is a peer-to-peer car sharing programme under A.R.S. §§ 28-9601 to 28-9616, operating in the Phoenix metropolitan area. We connect people who own a vehicle with people who want to drive one, and we administer the verification, the agreement, the insurance and the money around that.
Who may use it
You must be 18 or over, hold a valid driver's licence, and complete verification before you can book a vehicle. Arizona requires us to verify a driver's licence before a car sharing agreement is entered into, so this is not a step we can waive.
Requesting a vehicle
A request reserves nothing. Several people may ask for the same dates and the owner chooses between them. A booking holds a vehicle only once the owner has approved it.
Before a trip starts
Eight checks must pass. Four are performed by Tiepost — licence, open safety recalls, insurance, and a deposit hold. Four are captured by the people involved — the agreement, any additional drivers, photographs of the vehicle's condition, and identity confirmed in person at the handover.
A trip cannot begin without bound insurance. That is § 28-9602, and there is no version of Tiepost that lets a trip proceed without it.
During a trip
The driver is responsible for the vehicle, for obeying traffic law, and for anything that happens while it is in their care. Only drivers declared and verified before the trip may drive the vehicle.
Damage, and money
Photographs taken at handover and at return are the record. A claim is adjudicated against those photographs, the trip record and the insurer's decision. Owners are paid after the claims window closes, because paying earlier would mean reclaiming money after damage surfaces.
Taxes
Tiepost is the tax remitter for transaction privilege tax on these rentals under A.R.S. § 42-5014(G) and applicable surcharges under § 28-9616. Owners are responsible for their own income tax, and we report earnings to the IRS where the law requires.
What we do not do
Tiepost does not own the vehicles, does not employ the owners or the drivers, and is not a rental car company. Under § 28-9606, neither the programme nor the vehicle's owner is vicariously liable for the driver's conduct purely by reason of owning the vehicle. That does not affect anyone's liability for their own negligence, including ours.
Messages
Using Tiepost means we may text you a one-time verification code when you ask
for one, and send you notifications about your own bookings and trips. Message and
data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts.
Ending it
You can stop using Tiepost at any time and ask us to close your account. Some records must be retained for six years under § 28-9605; the privacy policy says which.
